Can you bake with coconut oil?
Yes, coconut oil can be used in baking instead of butter.
You might find that using coconut oil brings out more sweetness in your cakes – this is not necessarily a bad thing – but something to bear in mind.
If you find that your baking is not coming out as you would normally expect it to, simple adjust the amounts. Try using ¾ of the amount you would normally use for the butter i.e. if your recipe asks for 100g of butter, use 75g of coconut oil.
Similarly, if you find your baking is too sweet, try reducing the amount you would normally use. Changing your recipe to use around 2/3 of the stated amount of sugar should do the trick.
