Always try to buy Fair Trade to ensure the farmers get a fairer price for their product. Paying the farmers a decent and fair price for their product is not only the right thing to do, but it means that the farmers have the money to invest in their crop ultimately producing a better product that you will eventually consume.
Proper investment in farming practices makes farmers less vulnerable to financial pressures giving them a more sustainable business and better product. They also have to adhere to ecologically sound practices that ensure the appropriate management of water and waste, whilst protecting the soil.
Fairtrade also promote social rights and training for employees and helps to ensure people, especially children, are not exploited for their labour and are given safe working conditions.
The premium that is earned through Fairtrade goes towards community sustainability projects that build, develop and improve on water and electricity supplies to the communities that are producing the products for our consumption.
